Smoke Alarms

 

Some tips/information about smoke alarms.

 

1- Smoke alarms save lives, but don't forget it needs to be a working one.

2 - There are several types of smoke alarms with different features and applications.  Choose the right one.

3 - They must be installed on each storey of your house as well as outside sleeping areas.  Install them on the ceiling or high up on a wall.

4 - Test your alarms monthly.

5 - Don't forget to change the batteries once a year.

6 - Vacuum your alarms annually.  Dust can clog them.

7 - Smoke alarms don't  last forever.  If yours are more than 10 years or if they were already in the house when you moved in, it's better to replace them with new ones.

8 - Create an escape plan and practice it.
